Arnaud De Lie Secures Impressive Victory at Ronde van Limburg
Arnaud De Lie, the 20-year-old Belgian cyclist, has once again showcased his sprinting prowess with a win at the Ronde van Limburg. This impressive victory comes just two days after his triumph at the Heistse Pijl. De Lie, who is part of the Lotto Soudal team, stood out as the fastest rider in a bunch sprint, crossing the finish line with a remarkable acceleration on the uphill stretch in Tongeren, marking his sixth win of the season.
The Ronde van Limburg saw the peloton cover over 200 kilometers of undulating roads between Hasselt and Tongeren, with three local laps of 24 kilometers playing a crucial role in determining the outcome. The sprint teams took charge early on in the race, aiming for a bunch sprint at the end. The slightly uphill finish in Tongeren became the battleground for the final showdown. With Lotto Soudal providing excellent support for De Lie, he positioned himself in third place going into the final corner, just behind Sam Bennett. De Lie then unleashed a powerful surge to claim victory in dominating fashion.
Following his win, De Lie expressed his disbelief at his recent winning streak: “This is unbelievable, I’m winning the last three races I started in, I can hardly believe it. And what a team performance it was again. The team was truly impressive today and rode their hearts out for me all day long. So I am really happy to reward them with this win.”
Despite a crash in the final kilometers causing chaos, De Lie remained focused on the sprint. He attributed his success to the strong performance of the Bora-Hansgrohe train and the earlier work of his teammates, which allowed him to position himself well. De Lie also shared his enthusiasm for uphill finishes like the one in Tongeren, highlighting his love for power sprints and the adrenaline rush they provide.
This victory at the Ronde van Limburg marks De Lie’s third win in just eight days, following his previous triumphs at the GP Marcel Kint and Heistse Pijl. Reflecting on his form, De Lie expressed optimism for the upcoming races, stating, “To be honest, I felt even better today than Saturday in the Heistse Pijl. This is really promising for the next races.”
This win further solidifies Arnaud De Lie’s status as a rising star in the world of cycling. As he continues to deliver impressive performances, all eyes will be on his future successes.
