Andreas Kron Aims for Another Stage Win at Tour de Suisse
Andreas Kron of Lotto Soudal is hoping for another stage win at the upcoming Tour de Suisse, as he looks forward to his second participation in the race. Kron’s victory in stage six last year brings back good memories, despite the controversy surrounding the victory due to Rui Costa’s irregular sprint. This year, Kron is confident about his chances and believes the race suits him even better than before.
In a recent interview, Kron expressed his excitement about the upcoming Tour de Suisse and his goal of securing another stage win. He highlighted the strong team performance at the GP Aargau as a confidence booster for him.
“Honestly, the GP Aargau was the first race of the season in which I really felt good. This gives me a nice feeling. Of course, I would have liked to win but the most important thing to take away is the strong team performance,” said Andreas Kron.
Kron emphasized that the team’s focus will be on breakaways, given the composition of the team for the race.
“If you look at the composition of the team, it is clear that we mainly target breakaways,” Kron explained.
Reflecting on his past victory at the Tour de Suisse, Kron acknowledged the controversy but cherished the moment nonetheless.
“Of course, I have good memories of last year’s Tour de Suisse. It was a really nice moment, but a ‘clear’ win – without the relegation of Rui Costa – would have made it that bit more special,” Kron said.
He also mentioned that this year’s race should suit him even better than last year, and he is motivated to secure another stage win.
“A nice fait divers: also this year the Lukmanierpass – where we passed in stage six – is again part of the course. The general classification isn’t immediately my ambition, a stage win is the main goal for the coming eight days of racing in Suisse,” Kron concluded.
With Kron’s fine form and determination, all eyes will be on him as he takes on the challenging mix of hilly and mountain stages in the Tour de Suisse.
