During the annual press day of Lotto Soudal, the team leaders shared their plans for the upcoming 2022 season. Sprinter Caleb Ewan is aiming for stage wins in the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France, Philippe Gilbert hopes to end his career in style by participating in all the hilly Classics, Florian Vermeersch is looking to excel in the Flemish Classics, Victor Campenaerts will focus on the Classics as a Classic rider, Thomas De Gendt will focus on the tough days in stage races, Andreas Kron will focus on the hill Classics and a possible Tour debut, Brent Van Moer will target the Classics, Tim Wellens will focus on the hill Classics, and Arnaud De Lie will make his pro debut with a focus on the Classics.
Ewan expressed his appreciation for the team’s support, stating, “I really appreciate that the team is giving me the confidence again to go for stage wins in those big races.” He also mentioned his aspirations for the Milan-Sanremo race, saying, “My two earlier second places prove that I can come a long way in Milan-Sanremo.”
Gilbert, who is in his last year as a professional rider, is motivated to end his career on a high note. He said, “It is nice to be able to do all the races in which I have had so many good moments once again.” Vermeersch, who had a successful Paris-Roubaix in 2021, is excited for the upcoming spring classics, stating, “I think everything is there in our team to make it a good one.”
The team also announced the races each rider will participate in throughout the season, including the likes of Saudi Tour, UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico, Milan-Sanremo, Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, and many more.
