Israel – Premier Tech Announces Strong Team for La Vuelta a España
Israel – Premier Tech is set to compete in the final Grand Tour of the season, La Vuelta a España, with a well-rounded and talented team. The team will be aiming for success in both the General Classification and stage wins as they look to build on their impressive performance in the Tour de France.
Sports Director Oscar Guerrero emphasized the team’s goals, saying, “We have Mike Woods as our team leader for the General Classification… This is the goal again this year… Chris Froome… will have a free card for the race.”
The team’s roster for the race includes Patrick Bevin, Alessandro De Marchi, Itamar Einhorn, Omer Goldstein, Carl Fredrik Hagen, and Daryl Impey, who all have the potential to compete for stage wins. Guerrero praised the team’s versatility, stating, “All six riders have a solid card to play… We have a great team and I’m looking forward to seeing them race.”
For riders Mike Woods and Chris Froome, the Vuelta a España holds special significance. Woods, a two-time stage winner in the race and a top-ten finisher overall, expressed his confidence ahead of the event, saying, “I’m feeling confident and optimistic for the Vuelta… it is the one that suits me the best… I got my first WorldTour win in the Vuelta and it’s a race that has always been close to my heart.” Froome, who had a challenging buildup to the race due to COVID-19, is eager to contribute to the team’s success, stating, “I’m still very much looking forward to making the most of the race and helping Israel – Premier Tech get another successful Grand Tour in the bag… the Vuelta is one of my favourite races on the calendar.”
The team also includes Israeli road race champion Itamar Einhorn, who is aiming for success in the sprint stages. Einhorn expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m going for the sprints at the Vuelta a España… Hopefully, I can win a stage… it’s really cool that we can start in the Netherlands and move around like this.”
