Derek Gee Signs Three-Year Deal with Israel – Premier Tech

Canadian cyclist Derek Gee is poised to make his mark in the WorldTour as he joins Israel – Premier Tech on a three-year deal. Gee’s contract will keep him racing in IPT colors until 2025, showcasing the team’s confidence in his abilities.

This year, Gee demonstrated his potential with an impressive performance at the Gran Camiño time trial, finishing with the fifth-fastest time against a strong field of WorldTour-level competitors. This experience, along with his participation in races like Milano – Torino, allowed him to gain valuable insights from IPT’s experienced riders.

In welcoming Gee to the team, IPT General Manager Kjell Carlström expressed excitement about developing the next generation of Canadian cyclists. He stated, “We are really happy to welcome Derek Gee to Israel – Premier Tech on a three-year deal, which is a sign of our confidence in him and his abilities… from this, we knew we couldn’t miss the opportunity to sign him to IPT.”

Gee himself expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, acknowledging how racing with IPT multiple times already and the things he’s learned from that experience will be beneficial as he steps up to the WorldTour next year. He specifically highlighted the confidence he gained from his performance in the Gran Camiño time trial and his motivation to continue improving in the discipline.

As Gee continues to find his strengths on the road, he hopes to focus on his time trial skills and achieve significant results on the TT bike over the next three years.

Gee’s signing with IPT marks the second ICA rider to make the move to the team for next year, joining Italian cyclist Marco Frigo.
