Matthew Riccitello Joins Israel – Premier Tech as a Rising Star
Young North American cyclist Matthew Riccitello is set to turn professional in 2023 as he continues to ride for Israel – Premier Tech. With his impressive skills and potential, Riccitello is expected to make a big impact in the world of cycling.
IPT Partner Sylvan Adams welcomes Riccitello, stating, “Matthew is a brilliant young talent with a bright future. Welcome to IPT, we are expecting big things.”
Riccitello, currently riding as a stagiaire for IPT, has signed a three-year deal with the Israeli team. IPT General Manager Kjell Carlström praises Riccitello, saying, “Matthew is one of the top up and coming riders coming from North America and shows huge potential when it comes to being a General Classification rider. At only 20-years-old, Matthew has a big career ahead of him and we are very happy to play a role in Matthew’s development in the next years.”
Despite his young age, Riccitello has already made an impression during his IPT debut at Vuelta a Burgos, where he finished fourth in the young rider classification. Reflecting on his experience, Riccitello says, “It felt good to ride in IPT colors at Burgos. It was nice to get to know the riders and staff a bit better. It’s been a really encouraging and positive environment. I struggled with the heat a bit the first days, but managed to get it right the last couple days. It was a bit surreal finding myself on the wheel of guys like Nibali, who I’ve been watching on television since I was little. It was nice having such great support.”
Looking ahead to 2023, Riccitello is eager to continue his development as a General Classification rider and contribute to the team’s success. He expresses his gratitude for the opportunity to learn from experienced cyclists like Chris Froome and Mike Woods, as well as the directors and mechanics of IPT.
Riccitello is part of a group of young riders joining IPT’s 2023 roster, including Mason Hollyman, Marco Frigo, and Derek Gee, who are all graduates of Israel Cycling Academy.
