Corbin Strong Surprises Himself with Strong Performance in Tour Down Under Time Trial

Corbin Strong made a remarkable debut in the Tour Down Under, impressing with a solid ride in the prologue’s time trial, despite challenging conditions. The rain made the 5.5-kilometer course even more difficult for the peloton, but Strong defied expectations to finish with a time of 6:35, placing him 13th overall.

In an interview, Strong expressed his surprise at his performance, saying, “I’ve never been a time trial specialist so coming into today, it was about limiting my losses on guys like Ethan Hayter and Michael Matthews and I managed to be right there with them and even ahead of some of the top contenders. So I’m really happy with today. “I was aiming to do a really good time trial but I wasn’t expecting to almost be in the top-ten today. It’s a nice start to the week so hopefully we can keep improving. It gives me lots of confidence.”

Joining Strong in the top-20 was Canadian time trial champion Derek Gee, who finished 19th overall, just two seconds slower than Strong. This strong performance by their riders marks an excellent start for the IPT team in the Tour Down Under.
