Italian rider Gianni Moscon is set to join Team Astana, where the 27-year-old individual time trial and one-day race specialist will ride in the colors of the Kazakh team in 2022 and 2023. Moscon is well-known for his attacking style of racing, which has brought him many important results in both one-day and stage races. He has achieved impressive wins in the past, including the General Classification of the Arctic Race of Norway in 2016, the Italian National Championships Individual Time Trial title in 2017, and victories at the Tour of the Alps and GP Lugano this season.
Team Astana’s General Manager, Alexandr Vinokurov, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Moscon to the team, describing him as a “very strong and versatile rider” who will provide powerful support to the team’s Grand Tour leaders. Vinokurov sees Moscon’s transfer as an unconditional strengthening of the team’s position in one-day races and the Grand Tours for the next two seasons.
