“The sprint was very fast. Kevin Ledanois put me back well after the changeover with two and a half kilometers to go. It’s a pity that on the crossing of the big traffic circle, I hit the skids, which dropped me back to around twentieth place. The finish was on an upward slope, and I climbed back up at the five-hundred-meter mark, but a rider fell, forcing me to apply the brakes again to avoid a fall. The break was already in front of me, so I kept on sprinting. But I knew I could only catch the last place of the group ahead of me. It was the first sprint of this Vuelta Ciclista a España, and there will be other opportunities to come.
