Matteo Sobrero Joins BORA – hansgrohe: A Multitasking Talent
Matteo Sobrero, a talented 26-year-old Italian cyclist, will be joining the prestigious German WorldTeam, BORA – hansgrohe, starting from January 1. Sobrero has showcased his impressive skills in various terrains, especially in time trials where he secured a stage victory at the 2022 Giro d’Italia, coinciding with the team’s historic first Grand Tour win.
Being the reigning Italian national TT champion, Sobrero’s abilities extend beyond time trials. He also possesses climbing qualities, making him a compelling asset for stage races. With his notable performances in events like the Tour de Pologne and the Tour of Slovenia, as well as his reliable support for team leaders in Grand Tours, Sobrero has demonstrated his versatility.
Rolf Aldag, the Head of Sports at BORA – hansgrohe, acknowledges Sobrero’s multitude of talents, stating, “Matteo is Mr. Multitasking – a rider who impresses with many skills. Any rider who becomes the Italian TT champ, convinces on medium climbs, and is an important domestique in the Grand Tours really has many talents. We believe that Matteo hasn’t reached his full potential yet. If we can make this development, he can even ride close to the world’s best.”
