25-year-old Anthon Charmig Joins Astana Qazaqstan Team
Young Danish cyclist Anthon Charmig has signed a two-year contract with the Astana Qazaqstan Team, starting from the 2024 season. Charmig expressed his excitement about joining the team and his eagerness to work with the experienced staff and riders. He aims to contribute to the team’s success while also pursuing personal achievements. Charmig’s potential as a climber and a strong GC rider has already been showcased in his professional career.

When the team showed its interest in me very early in the season, … It felt like it is the right place for me to continue to develop, and now I am confident that I will join Astana. Charmig’s cycling career began to gain momentum when he won the silver medal in the road race at the Under 23 European Championships in 2020. He turned professional in 2022 and quickly made an impact with a stage win and the best young rider jersey at the Tour of Oman. In his first year as a pro, he achieved several top-10 finishes in races such as the Sazka Tour, Tour of Oman, Saudi Tour, Tour de Hongrie, and Tour of Denmark.
Alexandr Vinokurov, the General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team, praised Charmig’s potential and believes he will strengthen the team’s performance in mountain stages and stage races.
